New Delhi,UPDATED: Jun 18, 2024 21:27 IST

Reliance Jio is facing a major service outage affecting users nationwide. Thousands of Jio customers have reported issues with both JioFiber and mobile internet services, leading to significant disruptions in daily activities. However, the issue doesn’t seem to be from Reliance Jio’s side, as Google’s Public Domain Name System (DNS) service is also down, which has impacted other services as well, like YouTube and Twitter. DNS is offered to Internet users worldwide by Google.

According to Downdetector, a platform that monitors online service outages, the problem of Jio services began surfacing around 1:00PM. At its peak at 1:41PM, over 2,300 users reported connectivity issues. By 2:11PM, the complaints slightly decreased but surged again shortly after, with over 1,900 reports by mid-afternoon. As of now, 58 per cent of complaints are related to JioFiber services, while 37 per cent pertain to mobile internet disruptions.

This outage has left many Jio subscribers in a state of frustration. Numerous individuals, particularly those working from home, have been unable to access vital communication and productivity applications. Social media platforms are flooded with user complaints and queries, highlighting the dependency on Jio’s services for both personal and professional use.

Interestingly, while a substantial number of users face connectivity issues, some of the people whom we know reported to us that the Jio internet service is working for them.

Despite the widespread impact, Reliance Jio has yet to release an official statement addressing the cause of the outage or providing an estimated time for resolution. India Today Tech has reached out to the company and we will update the story once we get a reply.
